General Detailing

What is professional auto detailing?

Professional auto detailing goes far beyond a standard car wash. It's a meticulous, multi-step process that cleans, restores, and protects every surface of your vehicle — inside and out. This includes paint decontamination, clay bar treatment, machine polishing, interior steam cleaning, leather conditioning, and the application of protective coatings. The goal is to bring your vehicle to showroom condition and keep it there.

How often should I get my car detailed?

For most Cape Cod vehicles, we recommend a full exterior detail every 3-6 months and a thorough interior detail twice a year. If your vehicle has ceramic coating, you can extend this to 6-12 months for exterior work, with periodic maintenance washes in between. Vehicles exposed to heavy salt, beach sand, or daily driving may benefit from more frequent attention.

How long does a full detail take?

A Complete Detail typically takes 4-6 hours depending on vehicle size and condition. Interior-only detailing takes 2-4 hours. Paint correction can add 4-8 hours depending on severity. Ceramic coating packages typically require 1-2 full days to allow proper preparation, application, and curing time.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes — all services are by appointment only. This ensures Nick can give your vehicle his full, undivided attention without rushing. We're open 7 days a week from 8 AM to 6 PM. Call (413) 505-9781 or use our online quote form to schedule.

What's the difference between a car wash and professional detailing?

A car wash uses automated brushes and basic soap to remove surface dirt. Professional detailing is a hands-on process that decontaminates, corrects, and protects your paint at a molecular level. We use pH-specific chemicals, clay bar treatment, machine polishing, and professional coatings. The result isn't just "clean" — it's restored and protected.

Can detailing remove scratches from my car?

Many scratches can be significantly reduced or eliminated through paint correction — a process that uses machine polishing with specialized compounds to level the clear coat around the scratch. Deep scratches that penetrate to the base coat or primer may require touch-up paint. During your consultation, Nick will assess your vehicle's scratches and explain what's achievable.

Ceramic Coating

What is ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds chemically with your vehicle's factory paint, creating a permanent or semi-permanent layer of protection. Unlike wax or sealant, which sit on top of the paint, ceramic coating becomes part of the surface. This provides years of protection against UV damage, chemical staining, salt corrosion, bird droppings, and environmental contaminants.

How long does ceramic coating last?

Our IGL Ecocoat Kenzo ceramic coating provides up to 5 years of protection when properly maintained. Longevity depends on maintenance habits, environmental exposure, and wash frequency. Annual maintenance visits at our studio help maximize the coating's lifespan and performance.

Is ceramic coating worth the investment?

For Cape Cod vehicles, ceramic coating is one of the best investments you can make. It protects against the salt air, UV, and environmental damage that's constantly attacking your paint. It also reduces maintenance time and cost — coated vehicles are dramatically easier to wash and stay cleaner longer. And by preserving your paint's condition, ceramic coating helps maintain your vehicle's resale value.

What is IGL Ecocoat Kenzo?

IGL Ecocoat Kenzo is IGL Coatings' flagship, professional-grade ceramic coating. It uses graphene nano-platelet technology for superior hardness (up to 10H), extreme hydrophobic properties (water contact angle exceeding 120 degrees), and enhanced resistance to water spotting. It's REACH-compliant, low-VOC, and only available through authorized, trained installers. Auto Spa of Falmouth is a certified Kenzo installer.

Does ceramic coating make my car scratch-proof?

Ceramic coating adds significant hardness and scratch resistance (up to 10H on the pencil scale), but it doesn't make your car scratch-proof. It will resist light marring, swirl marks from washing, and minor abrasion much better than uncoated paint. For maximum protection, we always recommend proper wash techniques and avoiding automated car washes with brushes.

Can you ceramic coat a new car?

New cars are actually the ideal candidates for ceramic coating. The paint is in its best condition, requiring minimal (if any) paint correction before application. Coating a new car from day one provides maximum protection during the vehicle's entire lifespan. Many of our clients bring their new vehicles directly from the dealership.

How do I maintain my ceramic coating?

Maintaining a ceramic coating is straightforward: use a pH-neutral car wash soap, wash by hand with the two-bucket method, and avoid automated car washes with brushes. We provide a detailed aftercare guide with every coating installation and offer annual maintenance visits to inspect, decontaminate, and refresh the coating's performance.

Paint Correction

What is paint correction?

Paint correction is a precision process that uses machine polishing with specialized compounds and pads to remove imperfections from your vehicle's clear coat. This includes swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, oxidation, and haze. The result is a dramatically improved finish with deeper gloss and clarity. We measure paint depth before and after to ensure safe, optimal correction.

How many stages of paint correction do I need?

It depends on your paint's condition. Single-stage correction removes light swirls and hazing — ideal for newer or well-maintained vehicles. Two-stage correction addresses moderate swirl marks and scratches. Multi-stage correction is for severely damaged or neglected paint. During your consultation, Nick will assess your paint under specialized lighting and recommend the appropriate level.

Is paint correction safe for my car's clear coat?

Yes, when performed by a trained professional. We use a paint depth gauge to measure your clear coat thickness before starting, ensuring we have adequate material to work with safely. This data-driven approach prevents over-correction and ensures your paint remains protected for years to come.

Should I get paint correction before ceramic coating?

We strongly recommend it, and it's included with all our ceramic coating packages. Ceramic coating locks in whatever condition your paint is in — swirls, scratches, and all. Correcting the paint first ensures the coating goes over a flawless surface, maximizing both the appearance and the coating's performance.

Interior Detailing

What does interior detailing include?

Our interior detailing includes thorough vacuuming, steam cleaning of all surfaces, leather or fabric conditioning, dashboard and trim treatment, glass cleaning, air vent detailing, and full crevice cleaning. For vehicles with heavy soiling from pets, kids, or beach use, we offer additional stain removal and ozone odor elimination services.

Can you remove pet hair and odors?

Yes — our interior detailing process includes specialized tools for pet hair extraction from carpets, seats, and hard-to-reach areas. For persistent odors from pets, smoke, or other sources, we offer ozone odor removal treatment that neutralizes odor molecules at the source rather than just masking them.

Do you offer leather conditioning?

Yes — leather conditioning is included in every interior detail. We clean and condition leather surfaces to prevent cracking, fading, and drying that occurs from UV exposure and temperature fluctuations. For enhanced protection, we also offer ceramic leather coating that provides a durable, easy-to-clean surface.

Location & Service Area

Where is Auto Spa of Falmouth located?

We're at 88 Elain Avenue in East Falmouth, MA 02536. Our dedicated studio is just off Route 28, centrally located on the Upper Cape with easy access from Mashpee, Bourne, Sandwich, and beyond. We're open 7 days a week from 8 AM to 6 PM by appointment.

Do you offer mobile detailing?

All ceramic coating, paint correction, and detailing services are performed at our studio in East Falmouth. Our controlled environment with professional lighting, filtered air, and temperature control ensures optimal results that can't be replicated in a driveway or parking lot. For fleet clients, we can arrange on-site maintenance services.

Is there a waiting area at the studio?

Yes, we have a comfortable waiting area, though most clients choose to drop off their vehicle and return later. Services typically take several hours to a full day. We'll keep you updated on progress and let you know when your vehicle is ready for pick-up.

Why should I choose a studio over a mobile detailer?

A dedicated studio provides controlled temperature, humidity, and lighting — essential for ceramic coating curing and paint correction inspection. Outdoor conditions introduce dust, pollen, and temperature fluctuations that compromise results. Our studio also has specialized equipment (paint depth gauge, calibrated LED panels, filtered ventilation) that mobile operators simply can't bring to your driveway.
