What's the difference between a car wash and professional detailing?

Can detailing remove scratches from my car?
Many scratches can be significantly reduced or eliminated through paint correction — a process that uses machine polishing with specialized compounds to level the clear coat around the scratch. What is ceramic coating?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds chemically with your vehicle's factory paint, creating a permanent or semi-permanent layer of protection. Unlike wax or sealant, which sit on top of the paint, ceramic coating becomes part of the surface. This provides years of protection against UV damage, chemical staining, salt corrosion, bird droppings, and environmental contaminants.
How long does ceramic coating last?
Our IGL Ecocoat Kenzo ceramic coating provides up to 5 years of protection when properly maintained. Longevity depends on maintenance habits, environmental exposure, and wash frequency. Annual maintenance visits at our studio help maximize the coating's lifespan and performance.
Is ceramic coating worth the investment?

Does ceramic coating make my car scratch-proof?
Ceramic coating adds significant hardness and scratch resistance (up to 10H on the pencil scale), but it doesn't make your car scratch-proof. It will resist light marring, swirl marks from washing, and minor abrasion much better than uncoated paint. For maximum protection, we always recommend proper wash techniques and avoiding automated car washes with brushes.
Can you ceramic coat a new car?
New cars are actually the ideal candidates for ceramic coating. The paint is in its best condition, requiring minimal (if any) paint correction before application. Coating a new car from day one provides maximum protection during the vehicle's entire lifespan. Many of our clients bring their new vehicles directly from the dealership.
How do I maintain my ceramic coating?
Maintaining a ceramic coating is straightforward: use a pH-neutral car wash soap, wash by hand with the two-bucket method, and avoid automated car washes with brushes. What is paint correction?
Paint correction is a precision process that uses machine polishing with specialized compounds and pads to remove imperfections from your vehicle's clear coat. We measure paint depth before and after to ensure safe, optimal correction.
How many stages of paint correction do I need?
It depends on your paint's condition. Single-stage correction removes light swirls and hazing — ideal for newer or well-maintained vehicles. Two-stage correction addresses moderate swirl marks and scratches. Multi-stage correction is for severely damaged or neglected paint. Is paint correction safe for my car's clear coat?

Should I get paint correction before ceramic coating?

What does interior detailing include?
Our interior detailing includes thorough vacuuming, steam cleaning of all surfaces, leather or fabric conditioning, dashboard and trim treatment, glass cleaning, air vent detailing, and full crevice cleaning. For vehicles with heavy soiling from pets, kids, or beach use, we offer additional stain removal and ozone odor elimination services.
Can you remove pet hair and odors?
Yes — our interior detailing process includes specialized tools for pet hair extraction from carpets, seats, and hard-to-reach areas. For persistent odors from pets, smoke, or other sources, we offer ozone odor removal treatment that neutralizes odor molecules at the source rather than just masking them.
Do you offer leather conditioning?
Yes — leather conditioning is included in every interior detail. We clean and condition leather surfaces to prevent cracking, fading, and drying that occurs from UV exposure and temperature fluctuations. For enhanced protection, we also offer ceramic leather coating that provides a durable, easy-to-clean surface.

Our Complete Detail starts at $325 for standard cars and $425 for trucks and SUVs. Interior-only detailing starts at $225. Where is Auto Spa of Falmouth located?
We're at 88 Elain Avenue in East Falmouth, MA 02536. Our dedicated studio is just off Route 28, centrally located on the Upper Cape with easy access from Mashpee, Bourne, Sandwich, and beyond. We're open 7 days a week from 8 AM to 6 PM by appointment.
Do you offer mobile detailing?
All ceramic coating, paint correction, and detailing services are performed at our studio in East Falmouth. Our controlled environment with professional lighting, filtered air, and temperature control ensures optimal results that can't be replicated in a driveway or parking lot. For fleet clients, we can arrange on-site maintenance services.
Is there a waiting area at the studio?
Yes, we have a comfortable waiting area, though most clients choose to drop off their vehicle and return later. Services typically take several hours to a full day. We'll keep you updated on progress and let you know when your vehicle is ready for pick-up.
